How often do I need to replace the filters?

The F1A and F2 filters require replacement every 6 months, whilst the X12-F3 filters last 12 months. The main RO membrane typically needs changing every 24 months. The smart faucet displays filter life status, so you'll know exactly when replacements are due. Filter costs are approximately £30 for the 6-month filters and £200 for the 24-month membrane.

What's the difference between this and basic RO systems?

The X12 includes alkaline mineral infusion technology that adds calcium and magnesium back into the water after filtration. Basic RO systems remove everything, leaving water slightly acidic. This system adjusts pH to optimal alkaline levels, improving taste and providing health benefits. It also includes UV disinfection and a smart digital faucet that basic systems lack.

Can I install this system myself?

Yes, the system is designed for DIY installation with clear instructions included. Most people complete installation in 30-60 minutes. You'll need basic tools and should feel comfortable working with water connections. The tankless design makes installation simpler than traditional systems. If you're unsure about plumbing work, consider hiring a professional for peace of mind.

How much water does the system waste?

The X12 operates with a 3:1 pure to drain water ratio, meaning for every 3 litres of clean water produced, 1 litre goes to drain. This is more efficient than many RO systems that can waste 4-5 litres per litre produced. The system also features automatic self-cleaning cycles to maintain efficiency and prevent membrane fouling.

Will this work with my existing tap?

The system comes with a smart digital faucet that displays TDS and filter life. However, you can connect it to existing 3-way taps if preferred, though you'll lose the smart display features. You'll need a 3/8" BSP connection for the filtered water line. Some customers successfully use the system with existing taps, but the included smart faucet provides the best user experience.

What certifications does this system have?

The X12 is tested and certified by IAPMO R&T against NSF/ANSI standards 42, 58 and 372. It's also tested by SGS to reduce harmful substances including TDS, PFOA, PFOS, chlorine, fluoride, arsenic and lead. These certifications ensure the system meets strict water quality and safety standards for residential use.

How noisy is the system during operation?

The system produces some noise during operation and automatic cleaning cycles, but it's generally quiet enough not to be disruptive. The noise occurs mainly when water is being filtered or during self-cleaning cycles. Most users find it acceptable, especially with the under-sink cabinet door closed. The system is much quieter than many traditional RO systems with pumps.
